Woodcock January 1st Three Woodcocks were counted at Timble (1st and 28th)
Greater Black-backed Gull January 2nd A Greater Black-backed Gull was on the wet area below Dick Hudson’s
Ring-necked Parakeet January 2nd a Ring-necked Parakeet in Shipley
Gadwall January 4th pair at Knotford
Scaup January 4th The female Scaup, first seen during December at Otley Wetland had moved onto Knotford
Pink-footed Goose January 12th 230 Pink-footed Geese, in three groups, passed over Barden
Redwing January 14th 80 Redwing were noted in the fields around Shipley Glen.
Snow Bunting January 14th The largest number of visiting Snow Buntings was seen on Soil Hill (14th) where eight were recorded.
Lapwing January 16th Approximately 400 to 500 Lapwings were noted at Bowling Back Lane near Wakefield Road, Bradford on the 16th,
Lesser Spotted Woodpecker January 18th The elusive Lesser Spotted Woodpecker was watched at Bolton Bridge, where a member was lucky to see two birds
Pink-footed Goose January 18th 80 passed over Knotford
Pink-footed Goose January 19th 60 were seen flying west over Oxenhope
Bar-tailed Godwit January 22nd Bar-tailed Godwit was negotiating the fog at Otley Wetland
Black-headed Gull January 22nd 1500 at the moorland watch-point
Buzzard January 22nd Seven buzzards were registered on the 22nd from the Barden watchpoint.

Pink-footed Goose January 22nd 450 passed over Wilsden in three skeins.

Curlew January 29th Curlew numbers at Denton were beginning to grow with 50 there on the 29th.
Blackcap January   A female Blackcap was regularly appearing in a garden at Crossflatts, feeding on the rotting apples left for it.
Crossbills January   Crossbills were present in small numbers within Timble Forest and at the north end of Fewston Reservoir.
Water Rail January   Two Water Rails were regularly seen and even photographed at Stockbridge
Waxwing January   Small flocks of Waxwings were seen along the by-pass at Burley-in-Wharfedale, where they stayed for most of the month. An Eldwick garden had 18 gorging on a decorative shrub (12th&13th) and Salts Mill a member saw a flock of 40 (11th).
