Bird Box Scheme

The Erection of bird boxes during the winter has produced good results during 2005.

Long-eared Owls have used 'hanging baskets', Kestrels have used specially designed boxes and most of the traditional smaller type of box have been occupied.

Sponsor a Nestbox

There are now many artificial nest sites in place inside the BOG area which include nest boxes for Barn Owl, Tawny Owl and Kestrel as well as over 30 baskets aimed at attracting Long Eared Owl.

For £5 BOG members can sponsor a box or basket. A number is chosen and this will correspond with a number on either a nestbox or a LEO basket. You can choose which species you sponsor and will get feedback as to what is nesting in your nestbox.

All proceeds will go towards BOG funds to help with conservation issues and to raise awareness of conservation and the group’s activities.

Contact Andy Jowett if you wish to take part.
