BRADFORD ORNITHOLOGICAL GROUP 2008 GARDEN BIRD SURVEY

The area recorder receives many reports of exciting birds from our local woodlands, moors and reservoirs but few records of the commoner birds in our gardens. These birds are just as important so we would like to get a good idea of the species and number of birds using the gardens in our recording area.

If you would like to take part in the Survey, please click on the link to download the Record Spreadsheet.

Please would you record the maximum number of birds that you see at any one time in your garden each month. You can include birds seen in your neighbours gardens too. The count only needs to be an estimate so for example, if you see up to 4 Blue Tits on your feeder most days but you think there are at least 4 more in the bushes, put 8 birds down on the form. It may be that the numbers of birds using our gardens varies throughout the year so the records for January, April, July and October are of particular interest. There is a section on the back of the form for recording birds seen flying overhead. eg, gulls and swallows.

If you have any queries or comments, please see Chris King at a Monthly Meeting.

Many thanks for taking part!
