Fly Flats Reservoir (Warley Moor, Oxenhope)

The exposed reservoir of Fly Flats is reached by a rough road. Limited parking here, but then a pleasant walk right around the reservoir. Be prepared for disturbance from the yachting club.

Notable Sighting - 2003
25th February 2003 Two Pintail.
June 2003 Buzzard over.
August 2003 A flock of 13 Wheatears seen. A bird seen here was taken by a Sparrowhawk.
23rd November 2003 A single Snow Bunting and four on the 30th.
30th November 2003 A single 'ringtail' Hen Harrier.
Notable Sighting - 2004
15th February 2004 1000 Pink-footed Geese were watched in four skeins, all heading west.
15th February 15 Snipe
27th March 2004 24 Whooper Swans and Two Berwick Swans
16th May 2004 One Dunlin and two on the 30th May
May 2004 Up to 6 Wheatear on passage
Summer 2004 Twite bred at Warley Moor Reservoir, with three birds there in May, including one ringed at Cant Clough near Burnley. 
29th July 2004 Two Whimbrel
August 2004 12 Wheatear seen on return passage 
Notable Sighting - 2005
21st March 2005 A Red Kite
31st March 2005 30 Skylarks, many of which were on territory, and Ovenden Moor, where there were 25 on 29th September.
Twite : most records came from April, when birds were presumably on migration. Generally, only twos and threes were involved, but there were good counts of 20 on 17th April, and 27 (the year’s maximum) on 23rd.

Peregrine Falcon - three seen together were mobbing a Short-eared Owl near Warley Moor Reservoir.
