Glovershaw area is best approached along the lane to Golcar Farm. From this direction you will be examine the fields on either side of the lane for a variety of species. In summer, Swallows are probably the first birds you will notice, Goldfinch feed one the thistle stalks and in winter Fieldfare are usually present.

In spring, Lapwing will have set up their territory in this field on the right of Golcar Farm Lane and Curlew will be visible from this point onwards. Listen out for 'drumming' Snipe and Wheatear on passage during April and May. Golden Plover can usually be seen in the fields behind Golcar Farm during the latter part of winter and early spring. Stonechat are often visible, along with Yellowhammer, Skylark, Reed Bunting and Meadow Pipit.
