Hawksworth Moor forms part of Rombald's Moor and can be accessed form the East Morton to Menston road at Intake Gate. In common with all the other parts of this extensive high moorland, it offers much to birders prepared to walk along its pathways. In spring Lapwing establish nesting sites on the lower slopes along with passage migrants such as Wheatear. Curlew breed amongst the heather and Meadow Pipits are the dominate passerine. In early spring Golden Plover can be seen in large flocks and there is also the chance of glimpsing a Short-eared Owl.
