Paul Clough is probably our best site for observing Autumn migration. It is a small wooded valley, accessed from the Fly Flatts to Oxenhope road. Large numbers of passerines migrate through this valley each year.

Notable Sightings - 2003
28th July 2003 Two Pied Flycatchers on passage and one there the following day.
July 2003 41 Goldfinch
21st September 2003 150 Chaffinch on passage
September 2003 Up to ten Bullfinch  
 
Notable Sightings - 2004
21st August 2004 Garden Warbler (the year's last sighting).
9th September 2004 Pied Flycatcher on passage.
September 2004 Up to three Whinchat on return passage.
2nd October 2004 A Ring Ouzel, which remained for at least two days.
23rd October 2004 700 Fieldfare
Notable Sightings - 2005
July 2005 Up to 16 Willow Warblers.
7th August 2005 Three Pied Flycatchers - Passage migrants of this species are not often seen in the recording area, so these were notable. This was the final, and rather early record.
8th August 2005 Six Spotted Flycatchers
2nd & 20th September 2005 when 15 and 11 Great Tits were seen dispersing.
21st September 2005 628 Meadow Pipits on passage.
2nd October 2005 266 Chaffinch
2nd October 2005 63 Siskin passed through
2nd October 2005 150 Lesser Redpoll.
26th October 2005 195 Brambling in small migratory flocks.
