Meetings at Baildon Community Link

5th September 2017   Alan Fielding
   “Understanding Hen Harrier Conservation”
Alan is a nationally acclaimed expert on birds of prey. Following his very well received talk on Eagles in Scotland and Ireland in 2013 he now turns his attention to the superb Hen Harrier a bird which has sadly declined in recent years and has controversially been the subject of persecution. A fascinating evening is in prospect.

3rd October 2017   Laurence Rose
   “The Long Spring”
In early 2016 Laurence undertook a series of journeys following the arrival of spring northwards from North Africa to the Arctic. This talk is about the special places he visited and the wildlife he encountered. The Long Spring is also the title of his book, due to be published in March.

7th November 2017   Dennis Atherton
“The Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail”
In this talk Dennis follows The Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail, dropping in at all the local hotspots looking for up to thirty species of American Warblers during peak migration on their way North across the Gulf of Mexico back to their breeding grounds in America and Canada. He also checks out the stunning coastal shore birds and exotic raptors. He then makes a trip to the Rio Grande for Mexican species. “Everything in Texas is bigger including the amazing variety of Warblers. Texas in April is American bird migration at its very best.”

All Our Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month at Baildon Community Link 35 Cliffe Avenue, Baildon BD17 6NX

Directions – From Shipley take A6038 Otley Road. Turn left to Baildon on B6151. Continue up the hill and once the road has levelled off, turn left at the zebra crossing situated at a crossroads junction into Cliffe Avenue. The Centre is on the right just after Baildon Cliffe Avenue Surgery.

We have been able to continue meeting on the first Tuesday of the month and have booked The Lounge from 7pm to 10pm. The Centre is modern and has kitchen facilities to use for drinks if required. The air condition system is extremely quiet and the room seats about 40 people.
